To generate your personalized BaZi reading, we collect the following information:

• Date of birth — required for Four Pillars calculation
• Time of birth — required for the Hour Pillar; if unknown, a default is used
• City of birth — used for geographic timezone correction
• Gender — affects luck cycle direction in traditional BaZi

We do not collect your name, email address, or any identifying information unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., by contacting us).

2. How We Use Your Data

Your birth data is used solely for the purpose of generating your BaZi reading. Specifically:

• Sent to our calculation engine (FreeAstroAPI) to compute your Four Pillars chart
• Processed by our AI system (DeepSeek) to generate personalized interpretations
• Displayed on-screen in your reading and report pages

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the reading service.

3. Data Retention

Your birth data is stored only in your browser's session storage during an active session. When you close the browser tab or navigate away, this data is automatically cleared. We do not store your birth data on our servers or in any database. If you purchase a reading, the payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) retains transaction records per their own retention policy, but we do not retain your birth data alongside payment records.

4. Your Rights

Under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR and CCPA), you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
• Deletion — request that we delete any personal data we hold about you
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
• Object — object to processing of your data
• Portability — request your data in a portable format

Since we do not persistently store birth data on our servers, deletion requests are typically fulfilled immediately. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@zianus.com or use our Data Deletion Request page. We will respond within 30 days.

5. Third-Party Services

Zianus uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

• FreeAstroAPI — receives your birth data to calculate BaZi charts. Their privacy policy applies to data they process. See: freeastroapi.com
• DeepSeek — may receive anonymized chart data to generate AI interpretations. See: deepseek.com/privacy
• Vercel — hosts our website. Vercel may collect technical logs (IP address, browser type). See: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
• Lemon Squeezy — processes payments. Their privacy policy governs payment data. See: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy

6. CCPA-Specific Rights

For California residents, the CCPA provides additional rights beyond GDPR:

• Right to Know — request disclosure of what personal information we collect, use, and share
• Right to Delete — request deletion of your personal information
• Right to Opt-Out of Sale — we do not sell personal information
• Right to Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights

Notice at Collection: We collect birth date, time, city, and gender solely for the purpose of generating BaZi readings. We do not sell, share for advertising, or use this data for any purpose beyond providing the reading service.

7. Data Processing & International Transfers

As a service serving international users, your data may be processed across borders:

• Zianus is operated from China, with hosting on Vercel (United States)
• FreeAstroAPI processes birth data on servers in the EU
• DeepSeek processes AI interpretation data in China
• Lemon Squeezy processes payment data in the United States

We ensure that all data transfers comply with applicable data protection regulations, including GDPR's Article 44-49 provisions on international transfers. Where required, appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) are in place with our processors.

8. Cookies

We use minimal cookies necessary for the website to function (e.g., session management and cookie consent preference). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. When you first visit our site, a cookie consent banner will appear allowing you to manage your preferences. For more details, see our Cookie Policy section in this document.

9. Applicable Law

This privacy policy is designed to comply with:

• GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) — EU/EEA users
